Jerry Hill in Discussion

For more than 20 years Jerry Hill has been tackling critical issues to benefit Peninsula communities.  He led the successful effort to expand health insurance to every child in San Mateo County without raising taxes, he fought to preserve thousands of acres of parks, open space and coastal areas for future generations, he helped increase education funding to its highest level in state history, and he enacted laws to set tough limits on air pollution and global warming emissions.

His service began as a member of his neighborhood homeowners association and led to an election to the San Mateo City Council during a successful effort to prevent massive high-rises from being built in San Mateo. As a City Council member he enacted one of the state’s first anti-smoking ordinances. As a San Mateo County Supervisor, he expanded children’s health insurance coverage and helped open a new homeless shelter.

While serving in the Legislature he’s increased education funding to its highest level in state history, ensured public access to state beaches, cracked down on stores that sell tobacco to minors, removed repeat DUI offenders from our roadways, reformed the Public Utilities Commission, took high-polluting vehicles off our streets, and enacted the nation’s strongest limits on antibiotic use in livestock.

Jerry’s built a reputation as an elected official who’s willing to fight for the underdog and still be one of the most effective legislators in Sacramento.  He took on PG&E after the San Bruno gas explosion and he stood up for Peninsula workers when their jobs were at risk.  He closed corporate tax loopholes and took on billionaires who were blocking public beach access.

Let’s reelect Jerry Hill to the State Senate so he can continue fighting for us.
